How the ‘White Peony’ Became Wall Art
This was our second project with Tia, the lead designer at Lifted Interiors. After glowing praise for our first collaboration, which was a floral mosaic for a luxury bathroom, MEC got on board for another round of mosaic magic with Lifted Interiors.
Our first collaboration with Tia resulted in the creation of the ‘White Peony’. A luxury floral mosaic for a restroom in a high-end residence in Washington, DC.
Tia wanted a mood board created during the ‘White Peony’ project to be crafted as mosaic wall art. Thus, our mood board for this project was already in place.
However, some changes and additions were due for the artwork to fit into its appointed space.
The Design Phase
The Design Concept
The design concept was already in place as the client wanted a mosaic crafted around a mood board developed in the previous project.
Refining The Concept
Tia wanted a certain part of that mood board to be the focal point of that mosaic. MEC came up with several options from which she was to finalise one.
The Onsite Custom Crop
A few last-minute changes suggested by the client posed a problem to the actual crafting of the mosaic. Our mosaic consultant came up with a customised solution onsite to keep the image clear and the mosaic picture complete.
MEC’s Dedicated Client Focused Approach
At MEC, customer satisfaction comes first. We encountered a problem with Tia’s custom floral mosaic wall art when she wanted to shrink the whole design pattern so that it would fit into its appointed space.
Our team explained to her how a shrink-to-fit option that may seem probable with digital renders can not work when actual crafting is done with 15 mm hand-cut Murano glass tiles.
The shrinking would also affect the clarity and resolution of the completed artwork. MEC stood ground with its commitment to provide clear, premium-quality custom mosaic wall art, and we worked together to come up with the best solution.
She later on also suggested a 1-inch trim from each side of the fixture to solve the space issue, but it seemed to compromise the overall look of the artwork.
Consequently, MEC came up with a customised cropping solution for that particular floral feature wall which suited our client perfectly.
