Cubist Musicians Mosaic Mural

The Cubist Musicians Mosaic Mural takes its cue from early twentieth-century Cubist painting, breaking two figures and their instruments into interlocking geometric shards. Set floor to ceiling in a narrow wall recess, it reads as a single dense composition rather than scattered fragments, with the guitar body and two faces still legible among the angular planes.

Every shape is built from small square stone tesserae, laid tight and even so the grout lines themselves become part of the drawing. Up close the surface has a slightly irregular, hand-set texture; from across a room the pieces resolve into hats, hands, strings and shadow. The tile grain catches light differently across the panel, so the same mural looks different in daylight and lamplight.

The palette stays within charcoal, slate gray, and bone white, keeping the mood restrained despite the busy fracturing of forms. That narrow range lets the composition carry the drama instead of color, which suits a piece meant to anchor a dim dining room or private lounge wall without competing with warmer furnishings nearby.

Sized for a tall, narrow wall panel, this piece was built for exactly this kind of architectural nook, though proportions can be adjusted to fit a different opening. It sits comfortably among the pieces in our mosaic artwork collection and works equally well as a lobby or corridor focal point.
