Royal Portraits: Marble, Glass, and Precision

فن مصغّر بيوياً ينحو الحجر والزجاج

The Royal Emirates Mosaic Collection is built on one idea: a portrait should carry the same discipline as the achievements it depicts. Each piece moves from reference photograph to hand-drawn cartoon to tesserae set in marble, glass, or gold-leaf smalti, honouring figures such as Major Hazzaa Al Mansoori, and is produced to order for offices, lobbies, and private majlis settings.

FAQs — Royal Emirates Mosaic Collection

Yes. The Royal Emirates Mosaic Collection can be extended to any commission, including family portraits, government figures, or company founders, using the same marble and glass technique. Once we very carefully analyse the reference images given by you, we aim to create the exact likeness as well as personality of that person. MEC’s highly trained artisans spend hours manually cutting every tile to make sure that the delicate details of the face, followed by the skin tone, is realistic and on point. The final artwork is a high quality, timeless piece.

Portraits in this collection are made from natural marble, glass, or gold-leaf smalti, chosen based on the level of detail, lighting, and setting of the final installation. In order to figure out the best way to make your final installation glow, we thoroughly assess the ambient lighting of your place. Reflective glass adds visual depth by highlighting the core features. Natural stone makes the artwork look rich, by adding warmth.

Timelines depend on size and material, but most commissions move from design approval to installation within a set schedule agreed at consultation, so the piece is ready in time for its intended setting. Generally, our team would require eight to twelve weeks of dedicated artistry to finish the project. During the crafting period, you will be getting constant updates from MEC Artworks, through progress photos. Throughout this phase, we ensure that all the tiles are perfectly aligned before arriving at your place.

Yes. Pieces in this collection are sized and framed for lobbies, boardrooms, private residences, and public institutions across the UAE. At MEC, we are committed to strictly following commercial safety standards. We have proper mounting systems and structural backings. While working on our clients’ projects, we fully take into account high traffic spaces in terms of wanting the artwork to remain intact for decades to come. Be it a huge centrepiece or a minimalist corner piece, these portraits would upgrade any space.

Yes. Every portrait is built from an approved reference image and can be adjusted for pose, background detail, and frame finish before production begins. To help you see how your artwork would actually look like in real life settings, our team will be providing digital images so that you do not have to get into any guesswork. You can be as creative as you want to be and request for changes in the color palette, frame border, or the background. MEC would enter the production phase only when you will be fully satisfied with the digital blueprint. You can also imagine the Mosaic in your own space through MEC’s AI Mosaic tool.
