MEC had worked with Elizabeth on an elegant bathroom mosaic the first time around. Well satisfied with our work for her, she approached us this time for a backsplash she wanted for her kitchen.

As we already had a sense of Elizabeth’s style, we prepared a presentation for her with a few suggestions she might like, keeping in mind the request for a flower and bird mosaic backsplash for her beach house kitchen.
She fell in love instantly with the handmade mosaic tile with a floral and bird motif that our design team had styled for her.
Vision Behind This Luxury Mosaic Backsplash Design
The vision behind this luxury kitchen mosaic backsplash for our client’s coastal-style home was to introduce floral beauty into her kitchen.
Elizabeth wanted something that would look attractive, alive and elegant. Hence her preference for a floral mosaic. She also wanted something that would go with the rest of her kitchen’s look.
The design pattern that she selected was a beautifully done, handmade flower and bird mosaic.
With a few changes in the background colour and the placement of some flowers and birds in the design, this became the perfect bespoke mosaic art commissioned for our international client.
Design and Development
The development of this handcrafted floral mosaic tile for a kitchen renovation abroad was quite smooth and glitch-free, thanks to Nada, our mosaic consultant and our delightful client, Elizabeth.
The Original Design
The original design pattern that was presented by our design team at MEC was well-liked by our client. A few alterations were requested, which were duly made.
Placement of Certain Bird and Flower Motifs
Some changes were made to the flower and bird motifs in accordance with the placement of cabinetry and the available space for this bespoke glass mosaic tile. Our client also asked for a butterfly motif, which was a delightful addition to this luxury mosaic kitchen backsplash design.
Colour Palettes
Most of the original shades in the mosaic were retained as they were just the colours our client desired. The background colour, however, was changed from the original whitish yellow to an ivory white.
How This Mosaic Backsplash Design Was Crafted
Next, our team of artisans got into action. The crafting of this bespoke mosaic art, which was commissioned for an international client, took place directly on mesh sheets.
This makes the artwork easy to transport and is very helpful in installation later.
The mosaic was crafted with all the alterations required by our client in view. The exact dimensions of the space for the backsplash had been communicated to us.
It was ensured that the bespoke flower and bird mosaic backsplash would fit in perfectly in the designated space of the beach house kitchen.
Correspondence was maintained with the client during the crafting phase. Pictures were sent after the assembly of the initial part for approval and so that she could get a good idea of the completed artwork.
We are delighted to say that Elizabeth loved and approved of each step in the crafting of this handmade mosaic tile with a floral and bird motif.
