Bespoke Mosaic Pool Design Inspired by Water
Rather than using a standard tile pattern, this project turned the entire pool floor into a flowing piece of water art. The idea was to create a bespoke mosaic pool design inspired by the natural movement of water, with sweeping curves that form a striking vortex across the surface. Deep blue, teal, turquoise, and aqua glass tones were carefully layered to create depth and movement. Each section of the hand-cut mosaic pool floor follows the direction of the swirl, drawing the eye toward the center while keeping the design soft and natural.
The mosaic was also designed to complement the private villa and its outdoor setting. Under bright sunlight, the glass catches the light and brings out the brighter blue and turquoise tones. As the water moves, reflections add even more movement to the vortex.

Creating a Hypnotic Vortex With a Swirling Optical Effect
The vortex was designed around the pool’s exact size and proportions, allowing the artwork to flow naturally across the entire floor. Wide curves gradually tighten toward the center, creating a subtle optical illusion that draws the eye inward. Custom Vortex Mosaic Pool Design & Development
Every custom pool begins with the dimensions of the space and the idea behind the artwork. For this project, the vortex had to be carefully scaled to the pool floor. The center point, width of the curves, direction of movement, and color transitions were developed together. Once the design was approved, the artwork was divided into sections for fabrication. Our artisans then selected and arranged different glass tones to recreate the flowing pattern. Dark and light pieces were carefully mixed so the color changes would remain smooth. The finished sections were mapped and numbered to help maintain the correct position of the artwork during the installation process.

When you first look at the pool, it’s the movement of color that catches your eye. Deep blue flows into teal, turquoise, and aqua, creating a vortex that seems to shift with the water.
